Who should attend?
This course is intended for individuals who are required by their employer to carry out duties on motorways and high-speed dual carriageways in the role of a Traffic Management Foreman. It is particularly relevant for those involved in overseeing standard works where temporary road markings may or may not be necessary, as well as for all works conducted under relaxation conditions. Participants will gain the essential knowledge and skills to manage traffic safely and effectively in these high-risk environments.
What will be covered?
On completion of this course you will:
- Understand the typical roles responsibilities of the TMF
- Be aware of the CH8 requirements for standard works
- Be aware of temporary road markings and speed limits
- Be aware of contraflow operations and narrow lane schemes and be able to plan for standard works
- Have scored a pass mark of 75% or above on the end of course test

Prerequisites
Effective from 1st April 2020, all new learners wishing to obtain a Foreman certificate must have successfully completed and passed the 12B LTMO (Lane Technician Management Operative) course. In addition, their LTMO qualification must be valid at the time of application. A current and valid LTMO certificate—serving as official proof of training—is a mandatory prerequisite for those seeking to attain the NHSS 12AB Foreman TMF certification. Please note that both the LTMO and Foreman certificates are valid for a period of two years from the date of issue. Before enrolling, it is essential to confirm that this course aligns with your specific job role and responsibilities within temporary traffic management.
