Who should attend:
Anyone who has completed the NHSS 12D Module 2 Static Works on Single Carriageways training course and is looking to further their qualification to become a Registered Traffic Management Operative (RTMO).
Pre-requisites:
Holds a valid NHSS 12D Module 2 Static Works on Single Carriageways training certificate, and has gained some practical experience of installing, maintaining and removing static traffic control methods in a ‘live’ environment.
Course aims:
Demonstrate an understanding of the processes and procedures required to safely install, maintain and remove traffic management schemes on single carriageway roads, concluding in attaining full RTMO status.
Course Objectives:
3 x successful assessments required as a minimum covering all the predetermined performance criteria as detailed in the relevant national highways sector scheme ‘logbook.
The initial assessment is completed in the ‘centre’ environment, all subsequent assessments MUST be completed in a ‘live’ site environment in accordance with the requirements of the relevant sector scheme document.
NB: There must be a minimum of 2 weeks between each assessment.
M3
Who should attend:
Anyone who has completed the NHSS 12D Module 3 Low Speed Dual Carriageways training course and is looking to further their qualification to become a Registered Traffic Management Operative (RTMO) for this optional unit.
Pre-requisites:
Holds a valid NHSS 12D Module 3 Static Low Speed Dual Carriageways training certificate, and has gained some practical experience of installing, maintaining and removing static traffic control methods in a ‘live’ environment.
Course aims:
Demonstrate an understanding of the processes and procedures required to safely install, maintain and remove traffic management schemes on single carriageway roads, concluding in attaining full RTMO status in this optional unit.

Holds a valid NHSS 12D Module 4 Convoy Working training certificate, and has gained some practical experience of installing, maintaining and removing static traffic control methods in a ‘live’ environment. Learners must be qualified as a M2 RTMO (Registered Traffic Management Operative) prior to completing the NHSS 12D M4 assessments.
Course aims:
Demonstrate an understanding of the processes and procedures required to safely install, maintain and remove traffic management schemes on single carriageway roads, concluding in attaining full RTMO status in this optional unit.

1 x successful assessments required as a minimum covering all the predetermined performance criteria as detailed in the relevant national highways sector scheme ‘logbook.
M5
Who should attend:
Anyone who has completed the NHSS 12D Module 5 Static Works on Single Carriageways training course and is looking to further their qualification to become a Registered Traffic Management Operative (RTMO).
Pre-requisites:
Holds a valid NHSS 12D Module 5 Static Multi-Phase traffic signal training certificate, and has gained some practical experience of installing, maintaining and removing multi-phase traffic signal schemes in a ‘live’ environment. Learners must be qualified as a M2 RTMO (Registered Traffic Management Operative) prior to completing the NHSS 12D M5 assessments.
Course aims:
Demonstrate an understanding of the processes and procedures required to safely install, maintain and remove multi-phase traffic signal traffic management schemes, concluding in attaining full RTMO status for this optional unit.
Course Objectives:
2 x successful assessments required as a minimum covering all the predetermined performance criteria as detailed in the relevant national highways sector scheme ‘logbook.
The initial assessment is completed in the ‘centre’ environment, all subsequent assessments MUST be completed in a ‘live’ site environment in accordance with the requirements of the relevant sector scheme document.
NB: There must be a minimum of 2 weeks between each assessment.
NHSS12A/B Assessments
12AB
Group Size:
Maximum 2 learners
Who should attend:
Anyone who has completed the NHSS 12AB Operative training course and is looking to obtain full operative status (assessments must be completed within a two-year period starting from the date of the first assessment).
Pre-requisites:
Holds a valid NHSS 12AB Operative training certificate, and has gained some practical experience of installing, maintaining and removing static traffic control methods in a ‘live’ environment.
Course aims:
Demonstrate an understanding of the processes and procedures required to safely install, maintain and remove traffic management schemes on motorways and high speed dual carriageway roads, concluding in attaining full TMO status.
Course Objectives:
Minimum of 3 x successful site based assessments and 1 x centre assessment required as a minimum covering all the pre-determined performance criteria as detailed in the relevant Lantra Awards logbook.
All assessments MUST be completed in a ‘live’ site environment in accordance with the requirements of the relevant sector scheme document.
NB: There must be a minimum of 2 weeks between each assessment.
